Steps to Transfer a Domain Away on Porkbun

1. Log in to your Porkbun account

Go to your Porkbun Account

Enter your ‘Username’ and ‘Password’

Access your dashboard

2. Open domain management

Go to your list of your domains

Find the domain you want to transfer and click “Details”

A modal pop up appears that allows you edit your DNS Records then click “Add”

Toggle off the “Domain Locked” section to unlock the domain.

In the same section, go to ‘Registrar Transfer’ located at the middle far left of your screen

Note that if your domain is locked due to a transfer into Porkbun, or you updated your registrant contact info, the domain is locked for 60-days and cannot be transferred out. This is due to ICANN regulations and is not controllable by Porkbun.

4. Disable WHOIS privacy (if required)

Some registrars require privacy to be disabled before transfer

Turn off Contact Privacy if needed located at the bottom left of your screen

5. Start the transfer with your new registrar

Go to the registrar you are transferring to

  1. Domain cannot be transferred
    • The domain may be less than 60 days old

  2. Transfer taking too long
    • Check for a pending approval email
    • Some registrars allow manual approval to speed up the transfer
